About the Friends

The Friends of The Urbana Free Library is a group of over 600 people who appreciate and support the library. Since its founding in 1975, the Friends group has:

  • Raised nearly $100,000 for new library books and summer reading clubs through semiannual books sales.
  • Purchased a wide range of new equipment for the library.
  • Developed and maintained the flower boxes and landscaping around the library.
  • Delivered thousands of books to hundreds of homebound Urbana residents.
  • Contributed funds to the long-awaited expansion of the library.
