Using Study Rooms

The Study Rooms on the second floor provide space for group study, tutoring, meetings of small groups (2 - 6 people), individual study, and similiar purposes.

  • Each contains the following items for your use:
    • 6 chairs
    • 1 table
  • Food may not be consumed in the study rooms. Beverages must be in spill-proof containers.
  • Study rooms may be used by students studying together, tutors, income tax volunteers in season, or by small private clubs/groups, such as book clubs or investment groups.
  • Groups may use laptops or sound equipment, but sounds must not be audible outside the room.
  • The Library is not responsible for any theft or loss of materials left in the study rooms if groups leave items unattended.

Reservations for the Study Rooms

Advance reservations for study rooms are suggested but not required. Reservations can be made by phone or in person at the adult reference desk on the second floor of the library. Please call 217-367-4405 for more information.

Study rooms may be booked for up to two hours at a time. Reservations may be made one week in advance. If the group scheduled to use the room does not show up within 15 minutes of the reserved start time, the room may be given to others who request it.

Established clubs or non-profits organizations that want to schedule planned meetings on a regular basis should check with the children's question desk to arrange to reserve the auditorium or conference room.
