The practicum is a professional field experience program designed to provide the student with the opportunity to work in a professional environment under the supervision of an experienced librarian with the guidance of a GSLIS faculty member. Graduate Assistant in Children’s Services

A quarter-time paid position awarded to an outstanding student specializing in children's services at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science. The position is designed to give the student a wide range of experience in children's services while working in an award-winning public library. The graduate assistant in Children's Services provides reference and readers' advisory service to patrons, does programming, and participates in public relations. Graduate Reference Internship in Champaign County Historical Archives

A quarter-time paid position awarded to an outstanding student specializing in archival administration at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science. Technology Volunteer Opportunities

The Urbana Free Library is looking for students from the Graduate School of Library and Information Science who would enjoy helping our patrons improve their technology skills. Volunteer responsibilities include assisting patrons using the Internet and office suite software, helping patrons sign up for e-mail accounts, assisting patrons with our wide variety of online databases, and troubleshooting computer, printer and copy machine issues.
