The Urbana Free Library provides a weekly pickup and delivery service just for the residents of Clark-Lindsey Village, of Canterbury Ridge and of Prairie Winds.
With the library's service to your retirement center, you may choose to have your library materials delivered to you.
To do so, you must have a valid library card from The Urbana Free Library. You may continue to use your library card when you come to into the library and still take advantage of OUR delivery.
If you are a resident of Clark-Lindsey Village, Canterbury Ridge or Prairie Winds and do not yet have a library card, you may obtain one in a variety of ways. You may either visit us at the Circulation Desk at the Library or you may contact the Activity Director of your retirement community who can provide you with a library card application and information about The Urbana Free Library.
You must let us know that you'd like to join this optional delivery service. It's easy to do.
Just call Adult Reference at 367-4405 and ask for the coordinator, Mary Wilkes Towner. Or, call Dawn Cassady at Circulation, 367-4057.
Select your materials--books, magazines, compact discs, audiobooks (tape or CD), entertainment DVDs/videos, or educational DVDs/videos.
You can request materials from home by using the library's online catalog via the Internet.
Find the item you want in the online catalog and place a hold. You'll need your 14 digit library bar code number. The PIN number is the last 4 digits of your telephone number.
If you prefer, you may request library materials by phone. Simply call the Adult Reference Desk at 367-4405. Remember to tell us that you're signed up for delivery and would like the items sent to either Canterbury Ridge, Clark-Lindsey or Prairie Winds.
When you request materials online, the library will notify you when they are available. You have the option of picking up materials at the library or having them delivered.
Delivery day is Thursday.
If you don't pick up items at the library by the evening before the delivery day, they will automatically be delivered.
Your items will be bagged for privacy. (Bags remain the property of The Urbana Free Library and need to be returned with the borrowed items.)
You may pick up your library materials after 12:00 noon on the delivery day.
To return materials, drop off your bagged items before 9:00 a.m. on the delivery day. Check with your Activity Director for the designated pickup and drop-off points in your center.
As with all library transactions, borrowers are responsible for late fees on overdue items and for bills on lost or damaged items.
This delivery service complements our homebound program, which is for library users who cannot come to the library and want us to select materials for them. Please contact the librarians at the Adult Reference Desk if you are interested in this service.
