Technology Volunteers


Free Computer Help

The Adult Services librarians of The Urbana Free Library work in partnership with a team of technology volunteers to provide one-on-one instruction in the Flex-n-Gate Computer Center.

We can teach you how to search the Web more effectively; create an e-mail account and send messages; manage and save digital files; design and print documents; and more!

    Tech volunteers hours
  • Tuesday, 3:00 – 7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

For additional assistance, the Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center (UC-IMC) also offers free instruction and repair through its Computer Help Desk. The IMC is located at 202 S. Broadway (one block east of the library).

Technology Volunteer

The Urbana Free Library is looking for students from the Graduate School of Library and Information Science who would enjoy helping our patrons improve their technology skills. Volunteer responsibilities include assisting patrons using the Internet and office suite software, helping patrons sign up for e-mail accounts, assisting patrons with our wide variety of online databases, and troubleshooting computer, printer and copy machine issues.
